our founder

Nina Sekhand is a pioneer in the world of arts and education—a classically trained ballerina, nanotechnology engineer, and founder of the Center for Performing Arts and Dance (CPAD). With an extraordinary background that expand elite performance and scientific research, Nina is redefining what a modern performing arts school can be.

Following an international career with esteemed companies such as the New York Dance Project and the Cuban Classical Ballet Company of Miami, Nina transitioned from stage to studio with a bold vision: to create a space where children not only train as dancers but thrive as learners and individuals. Her foundation in nanotechnology, neuroscience, psychology, and child development gives her a unique lens through which she views both movement and education.

In a world moving fast, Nina Sekhand is carving out a place where children are invited to slow down, go deep, and grow wide—in movement, mind, and heart.

At the heart of Nina’s mission is the belief that children flourish when given time, space, and trust to explore who they are. That’s why she is expanding the concept of dance instruction into something much more immersive: a comprehensive after-school center where children can spend 3 to 4 hours each day engaging in movement, music, creativity, and academic enrichment—all in a nurturing, high-quality environment.

CPAD offers a unique structure where kids transition between focused ballet training, expressive arts, brain-friendly learning sessions, and wellness practices rooted in neuroscience and child psychology. This is not just a place to dance—it’s a whole-child ecosystem designed to support emotional intelligence, critical thinking, creativity, and physical excellence.

CPAD NYC is becoming a sanctuary for families seeking more than a simple one-hour class.

It’s a modern village—where children can build confidence, character, and competence under the guidance of educators who see their full potential.
